We at NM believe in credit where credit is due. Let's face it we're subjected to relentless hype and drivel week in week out, with every teen heartthrob in pink trousers touted as the saviour of rock n roll. It makes us want to puke...

Ed Upton, aka DMX Krew, out lived his own hype long ago and is still here hell bent on staying as each release tells us he's not going anywhere.

Ed has been flying the flag for British electro for 15 years, a bold statement yes, but perhaps a tad confining and maybe an understatement too looking at what his back catalogue has to offer.

His sound spans many electronic forms, but has its strongest roots in the 80s electro and hip-hop he listened to as a kid. His all-analogue work outs seem to embody the spirit of the west coast electro circa 84-87, but also the house scene from chicago and the acid house era of the UK! All revisited with a tongue in the cheek and a firm eye staring beyond into the future.

It's easy to pigeon whole DMX Krew as his productions have a signature 80's sound, but his earliest influences spring from more dynamic roots, notably 'Parliament' and 'Herbie Hancock'. This is explored to it's fullest on his podcast, the 'EDMX radio show' delving into his roots and the inspiration for the DMX Krew project. He talks the listener through his record collection in such a personal and genuine manner that you can't help getting hooked...

Check them out here - http://dmxkrew.blogspot.com/.

Expect this diversity to be reflected in his set with all manner of disco, 80's boogie, early house and acid records. His Djing really is top dollar and caters for any dancefloor put in his path.

It is with open arms that we welcome Ed to work his DMX magic at our May party.

Here's a promotional rap for his upcoming album "Wave Funk" we love it...
